About TaRosa Jacobs, The Thriftonista

hobo-shoot-second-picks099-1024x683For as long as I can recall, I’ve found inspiration in the unexpected and beauty in the discarded. I believe that shopping should be fun and affordable and that reusing older items, sometimes in new and exciting ways, can allow us to express our creativity and unique senses of style without spending too much of our hard earned money!

While I’ve always been a lover of fashion in general and vintage in particular, I decided to start this business in 2007, several months after the birth of my daughter. Selling vintage allowed me the opportunity to stay at home with my child while still being able to express my creativity and make a living. Prior to starting this business, I worked in television casting and research for High Noon Entertainment (which produces shows for HGTV, the Food Network and TLC) and was a University Fellow and Diversity Fellow in the Masters of English program at the University of Colorado at Boulder. I hold Bachelors of English and Science, both summa cum laude, from Eastern Illinois University and enjoy holding myself to the highest standard in everything I do.

I’ve styled photo shoots for Shades Model Managment and Fashion Models Magazine; styled runway shows for Shades Model Management and Fashion Denver; wrote a popular blog about vintage fashion styling and shopping for The Westword and was a featured seller at the Fabric Lab and Twist and Shout before shifting to opening my own vintage and designer clothing showroom.

I am incredibly passionate about sourcing, selling and styling vintage clothes and look forward to helping you find incredible vintage pieces at outstanding prices.
