Eric Lefkofsky is one of the most renowned technology entrepreneurs based in Chicago. He is the founder and CEO of Tempus, a tech company that consists of an operating system with the world’s largest library of molecular and clinical data. Eric Lefkofsky  points out that the company helps researchers, physicians, and patients access this data in real-time which aids them in making informed decisions. In 2021, Tempus reached a valuation of $8.1 billion and total financing to $1 billion making it one of the most valuable technology companies in Chicago.

The formation of Tempus was driven by Eric Lefkofsky’s desire to help other people. Although Eric Lefkofsky is a giant in the technology industry, he is mostly known for his passion to help the least fortunate in society. Tempus was started to reduce cancer cases through technology. In a conference held last year, Eric Lefkofsky cited that the best way to control cancer is by detecting the condition during its early stages. Tempus seeks to help researchers and physicians detect cancer trauma easily by providing them with molecular and clinical data in real-time.

Although Tempus was founded to assist in the talking of cancer, the increased funding in recent years has allowed the company to expand beyond oncology. Some of the areas that Tempus plans to cover in the next few years include diabetes, cardiology, mental health, and infectious diseases. Eric Lefkofsky plans to further increase the funding to the company by selling his dream to fully integrate technology with healthcare in the next decade.
