Your humble kicks are getting a huge makeover this spring and summer, thanks to designers who have gone “somewhere over the rainbow.”
That’s right; sneakers are the focus in a dreamy, whimsical kind of way. Colorful in a rainbow unicorn manner is hot on trend, whether they’re high tops, trainers, slip ons or casual canvas kicks.
The look is fun and playful and can add vibrant pops of color to your footwear collection. Dolce & Gabbana has also designed some cool kicks with vivid scribbles, slogans and adornments all over the sneakers. A pair from Italy’s D & G will run you almost $1,000, but trust us, there are similar rainbow unicorn trainers out there for a lot less and look great on your feet.
Unicorn fantasies appear to be the real deal this spring, and Starbucks is right in on the high-intensity mix. The company’s Unicorn Frapuccino drink is all the buzz with pink, purple and blue swirls. It’s a drinkable work of ombre art, some would say and closely resembles the Keds x Malhia Kent Champion Murphy, $125 a pair.
Even classic Converse is into the fantasy of iridescence for the feet as they launch the Chuck Taylor All Star Lo Iridescent, $59.99 a pair. The colors featured are a nice ombre blend of blue, purple and navy.
Fans are also diggin’ the Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 33 Sneaker at $110 a pair. These beauties turn heads with potent shades of coral and blue and black lava. Even the soles arrive with an ombre wash of color. The Air Zoom Pegasus 3 also comes in more triple-unicorn shades to choose from.
The rainbow unicorn attitude is delightful and adding modern glamour to lipsticks, eye shadows and playful hairstyles.
Sneakers were next, and why not?
